Eversheds Sutherland continues European expansion with further strategic partner hire in project finance15. Juni 2026 Eversheds Sutherland has made a further lateral partner appointment, welcoming Alexander Wojtek to its Hamburg office, Germany. Alexander joins from Bird & Bird where he advised banks, alternative debt funds, institutional investors and sponsors on complex project finance transactions and joint ventures, with a strong focus on renewable energy and infrastructure projects. His experience spans onshore and offshore wind, solar and wider energy transition related investments, often with a cross border dimension. Alexander brings more than 15 years’ experience advising on high value, international transactions. Prior to joining Bird & Bird, he was a partner at Luther Rechtsanwälte having previously spent seven years at Watson, Farley & Williams and five years at Clifford Chance. Alexander’s work has been widely recognised in the market. His work in renewable energy project finance was recognised by Legal 500 Germany in 2025, which cited strong deal flow in the sector and awarded the practice he co-led ‘Firm to Watch’ status for the first time. He has also been listed in Best Lawyers Germany, published by Handelsblatt, every year since 2021. Working closely with Eversheds Sutherland’s UK, US and European energy and infrastructure teams, Alexander will support clients with complex, multi‑jurisdictional mandates, further strengthening the firm’s renewable energy and infrastructure platform across Europe and internationally. Alex Niethammer, European Managing Partner, Eversheds Sutherland, said: “Alexander’s appointment continues the build‑out of our European energy and infrastructure platform. Project finance is a critical capability for clients investing across the energy transition, and Alexander’s expertise strengthens our ability to advise on complex, cross‑border mandates throughout the full lifecycle of these projects. His sector focus, international experience and collaborative approach align strongly with our long‑term strategy in Europe.” Jubilee Easo, Partner and Co-Head of Global Energy, Eversheds Sutherland, said: “Alexander is an excellent addition to our global energy and infrastructure platform at a time when investment across the transition is both increasing and becoming more complex. His experience advising on cross‑border project finance transactions, particularly in renewables, aligns closely with where we are seeing continuous client demand. Adding that capability further strengthens our energy offering and enhances how we support clients deploying capital into notably sophisticated projects, while reinforcing our position in a highly competitive market.” Steffen Schniepp, Partner and Head of Corporate Finance, Germany, Eversheds Sutherland, said: “Alexander is a natural fit for our practice. His focus on renewables and infrastructure, combined with his experience advising international investors and lenders, complements our existing M&A and regulatory capabilities. As demand for energy transition projects continues to grow, his expertise will be key in helping clients navigate increasingly complex and cross border transactions.” Alexander Wojtek, Partner, Eversheds Sutherland, said: “I’m excited to be joining Eversheds Sutherland at a time when investment into renewable energy and infrastructure is accelerating across Europe. Much of my work is inherently cross border; the firm’s global platform creates a compelling opportunity to support clients deploying capital across Germany, as well as internationally. I look forward to working closely with colleagues across the network to continue building trusted, long term client relationships in the energy and infrastructure sector.” Alexander’s appointment follows the arrivals of Partners Pia Dorfmueller, Catharina Förster and Peter Junghaenel in Germany, and most recently, Simon Thomas and Nichola Donovan in the UK.
